Style Overview

Wrestling is a form of combat sport involving grappling type techniques such as clinch fighting, throws and takedowns - with the goal to gain and maintain a superior position. Wrestling, along with Kickboxing and Jiu Jitsu makes up the 3 base styles for MMA.

Our Wrestling fundamentals session was established by Toby FitzPatrick - National and Oceania Champion with significant international experience. Toby is also an experienced MMA competitor, and teaches takedown techniques which will apply on both the grappling mat and in MMA competition. In addition to our fundamentals class, Wrestling is one of the key components of the Fighters Classes at CORE MMA. Long-time wrestling coach Peter Pouri-Lane from Hamilton Hawks will often be found on the mat helping the team fine-tune their takedowns.

Wrestling Timetable

Wrestling Fundamentals: Wednesday 7-8pm

Fighters Classes: Monday & Wednesday 8-9pm (MMA based)
